Nice didn’t have the best possible start of the new season in the Ligue 1. Patrick Vieira’s team started with a 0-1 home loss against Reims, which was followed by a 1-1 draw during the visit to Caen. Surely it is a tough start of the new campaign for the legendary Patrick Vieira. The former Arsenal midfielder is still pretty unexperienced as a manager. It remains to be seen how this will affect Nice’s performance this season. But for sure – the start of the new season could have been a little bit better for them.

Dijon started the new campaign much better than Nice. Olivier Dall’Oglio’s boys began their season with two consecutive wins. In the first round Dijon beat Montpellier away from home and this win was followed by a comfortable 2-0 win over Nantes at home. The hero of the day was Julio Alvares, who scored both goals in Nantes’ net.

Last season Nice had a dissapointing season, finishing 8th in the Ligue 1 standings and missing on qualification for the European competitions. When the club appointed Patrick Vieira as a new manager, they did it with the ambition for a possible improvement. But so far things are not looking much optimisic for Nice, because the club is not showing the desired levels. As for Dijon, who knows – maybe they will be a pleasant surprise in the Ligue 1 this season?
