Manchester City – West Ham United

The champion Manchester City will close the 26th league of the Premier League on Sunday when the Cityzens host West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium. Here are our usual English Premier League predictions for this fixture.

It’s not a secret anymore that the Premier League title race is over now. The leader Liverpool have a groundbreaking advantage of 22 points ahead of Manchester City, so it’s just a matter of time before the Reds officially win the title. As for Man City – the champions can still beat Leicester City for the second place, although it won’t make much a difference for their season.

What the Cityzens will do until the end of the season is focus on their participation in the other competitions they are involved – the Champions League, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup. Most probably their motivation in the Premier League won’t be on the same level anymore, but they must finish the season. That’s the rules.

For Manchester City this game comes after two consecutive defeats – against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup and against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. It does not happen often to Pep Guardiola two lose two consecutive games, so let’s see how they will respond on Sunday.

This game is probably much more important for West Ham, because David Moyes’ team is fighting for its survival in the league. At this point the Hammers are 18th in the league and they must escape the relegation zone as quick as possible. The problem? West Ham didn’t win neither one of their last five matches in the Premier League.

This was our English Premier League predictions for the match between the champion Manchester City and the struggling West Ham United at the Etihad. It’d be curious to see what kind of a lineup Pep Guardiola will choose for this game.
